Pimp My Armory....
I am about to finish my preps, which leaves me with my armory.
I want a full array of weapons, hunting rifles ,defense rifles, shot guns, hand guns and ammo. Show me a shopping cart of your suggestions for your favorite online dealer. I would like to keep the amount of calibers to a minimum. |
Re: Pimp My Armory....
How much do you want to spend? Or are you just looking for a wish list?

Re: Pimp My Armory....
Bolt rifle: get it in .308 Winchester. Winchester, Remington, and Savage are all plentiful, as are parts. (scope-wise: Leupold)
Defense rifle: 7.62 x 51 nato My preference is M1A: again, plentiful and surplus parts are numerous Shotguns: 12 gauge pump: Remington, Winchester, Mossberg Hand gun: Glock. You can buy 2 barrels and be able to shoot .357 SIG/.40/9mm out of the same pistol also a Ruger .22 or two |

Yeah, I'd figure which calibers you want to stick to and go from there. I think the foreign surplus route offers the best deals with maybe a few select US made models to round out the Arsenal. Here's some links : http://www.centerfiresystems.com/long_guns_other.aspx http://www.centerfiresystems.com/long_guns_ak.aspx And my personal favorite >> http://www.centerfiresystems.com/RIFLE-M53.aspx Oh and some good deals here too plus they're nice people to deal with >> http://www.classicarms.us/ I'd go for AK, FN-FAL, a few bolt-action guns, AR (I like SIG 556), some handguns in your favorite caliber, and ONE big fat-ass badboy like my MG42/M53......use your own judgement and go beyond......get that Ultimate Rifle of your dreams. Re: Pimp My Armory....
Here's my sample shopping list for you:, if you're starting from scratch and want to spend about $5k:
two or three AK47s in 7.62x39, Saigas are good. one or two "AK pistols" for concealment or car carry goodies for the above, like the dragunov stocks, pistol grips, scope mount, slings, etc. as well as a bunch (20+) of 30 rd magazines. two or three GLOCKs in 9mm, whichever model you like best a bunch of high capacity magazines. A .30-06 bolt action hunting rifle, make it a common one (in case something breaks) 5000 rounds 7.62x39 FMJ 5000 rounds 9mm hollowpoint 1000 rounds .308 Pick up a few SKS rifles if you have any money left over. |
Re: Pimp My Armory....

Re: Pimp My Armory....
I think you should go with the .308. I have both but if I only was able to have one I would go with the .308. The difference between it and the .223 is well worth the extra ~.15 cents per bullet. SOCOM M1A Is a hell of a choice for a .308. Throw a trijicon acog on that thing and it will be perfect. I currently have a rifle scope on my M1A as a long range/hunting gun but I would love to throw an acog on it, from what I have read and seen it is the best scope out there.

Re: Pimp My Armory....
It's changed a little. The sling acts as a stock if I need it to (just push it forward to the end of the sling). If not, then it rides behind my back where you won't see it until I've reached for it. I'm considering dyeing the wood black. Nasty little pistol, btw. I've chopped up quite a few things with this baby in the past couple of months practicing. Burned up almost a case of ammo playing with my toy, er testing my handy work. The muzzle brake and the hand grip come from an AMD 65.

Re: Pimp My Armory....
BOLD is my best value picks
Shotgun: Mossberg 590 Remington 870 Saiga-12 Varmint Plinkers: Ruger 10/22 (get a bipod and scope rings/scope for your plinker, you can share the bipod with your deer rifle) Savage .17HMR Handguns: Nagant 1895 Cz-52 1911 Cz-75 FN Five-seveN SMG: Vector Uzi Pistol Steyr TMP (B&T makes the current civilian model?) Battle Rifle: SKS WASR-10 Side/under folder (under folder is a bit sloppy on mine. if I did it again, I would probably get the side folder) Saiga 7.62x39 Dragunov $700 AR-15(DPMS, ect.) Rock River Arms AR-15 Deer Rifle http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mosin-Nagant http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carcano http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karabiner_98k http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1903_Springfield_rifle Can't recommend a deer rifle cause I inherited a m1903 and never looked at getting a new rifle. Machine Gun: I don't really know much about these but I would get the PKM if I had the money to burn. Both have ammo interchangeability with something else on my list. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MG42 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PKM Reloading press primers/brass/dies case trimmer powder powder scale (one that can do 480 grains+ so you can measure bullion) sabots 7.62 to .223 powder funnel powder tickler powder thrower hand reloading kit Bullet casting/swedging tooling eventually if you want. You can fill your bullion safe with your lead/powder stockpile to make it more difficult to steal. Barebones: Ak-47/SKS, Cz-52, ruger 10/22, mosin nagant The nice thing about sticking with the 7.62 bore is you can reload sabots to anything easily. Bullet interchangeability. ect. |
Re: Pimp My Armory....
No lug on the pistols. Not needed. But the knife came from Iraq. Or maybe Afghanistan. I can't remember now.
It is just in this pix for a friend of mine who wanted to see it. No biggie. Clips to my vest, hung upside down so it's easy to get to and get out. Plus if you look closely, it can become a wire cutter PDQ. |
Re: Pimp My Armory....
You need to find out what you prefer, not what I like. My suggestion is to visit a range where a wide selection of rentals are available.
Take care, Mod1 |
Re: Pimp My Armory....
Tactical - short range and long range.
My vote goes to the Siaga 12 for the tactical indoor role. |
Re: Pimp My Armory....
As Rebel Yarr says, you need to break it down.
Under 25 yards, generally considered close quarter combat 25 yards to 100 yards 100 yards to 250 yards OUT PAST 250 YARDS might be another category, but for me, I'm gonna let them get a little closer. But I'm an old guy whose vision has never been that great to begin with. |
Re: Pimp My Armory....
These plus two or three shotguns would do you just fine.
.357 http://goldismoney.info/forums/attac...1&d=1220935139 CZ52 http://goldismoney.info/forums/attac...1&d=1220935139 AK's http://goldismoney.info/forums/attac...1&d=1220935139 http://goldismoney.info/forums/attac...1&d=1220935139 Of course, all of these are old pix of weapons I've sold a long time ago... |

Re: Pimp My Armory....
It's the Chinese NHM91. With a TANTAL PSO scope made for the 7.62x39 round.
It's a nice scope with a red lit reticle for low light and has a BDC for 200/300/400 meters. After I mounted it, I went to site it in. A WORD OF CAUTION. The Russian scopes (or at least this PSO) is sited in completely opposite of American scopes. With everything set to zero on the Russian scope, you shoot at the 6 o'clock (bottom) of the target. Then make adjustments UP. I was having problems with my NHM91 that was easily remedied on my bench at my house, but at the range it was just a pain. Apparently the sear spring had fell out. Probably MY fault, but I don't think I'd actually disassembled it that far, so it could have been missing when I purchased it. I stuck a new on in when I got home and took it back out. It works great now. But I arrived so late at the outdoor range that I had to leave before finishing my site in. So I'll start all over next visit. BUT, I pulled the scope and she was dead bang on with iron sights at 100 yards. I was EXTREMELY pleased with that. I'll let you know, but it seemed to me that the scope was perfect for this rifle. |

Some before and after pics of a new paint-job (bonus points for knowing the camo pattern).
